Atahan Balon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Matias Bilintx, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. 20 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Saverio Brion came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atahan Balon showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Saturnino Curcio in the 25th minute of the match. After taking down the ball on Sporting de Gijón's corner Saturnino Curcio fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Atahan Balon quite easily take care of the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Los Muchachos del 86's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Maradona came free, but Atahan Balon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st match minute, Los Muchachos del 86 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Saverio Brion to maneuver through the defense. Los Muchachos del 86's Atahan Balon played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matias Bilintx in the 41st minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 42 minutes, Óscar Cordoba successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Matias Bilintx to strike the kick off in the second half. Matias Bilintx might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Atahan Balon. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matias Bilintx ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 53rd minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Atahan Balon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 55thth minute of the game Matias Bilintx who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Los Muchachos del 86's Atahan Balon was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sporting de Gijón's Venancio Emesto was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. With his leg Atahan Balon managed to avoid a goal in the 59thth minute, when Sporting de Gijón's Matias Bilintx fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albino Peruanton, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Sporting de Gijón eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
