FC Brașov's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Efe Ehil in the 20th minute. Manole Hanganu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Manole Hanganu having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 29 minutes, Pierre-Alexandre Helsens put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Julio Vera. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manole Hanganu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. In the 41st minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manole Hanganu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. FC Brașov's Manole Hanganu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 55th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pierre-Alexandre Helsens in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 59th minute of the match FC Brașov got a corner. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Efe Ehil ran over to the corner to take the kick. FC Brașov's Efe Ehil was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the match clock showed 61 minutes, the score became 2-3 when Pierre-Alexandre Helsens sped through Ecuador's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Julio Vera. After having played for 63 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 65th minute, Cristian Sancho made a precise shot to the right of Manole Hanganu. FC Brașov's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-4. 67 minutes into the match, FC Brașov's goalkeeper Manole Hanganu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. 74 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Pierre-Alexandre Helsens came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The FC Brașov fans' excitement grew in the 74th match minute when FC Brașov's Pierre-Alexandre Helsens looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Manole Hanganu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 77th minute of the match. After 78 minutes of play, FC Brașov's Cristobal Cresencio made it 4-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 83rd minute, which Manole Hanganu however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of Ecuador booed when FC Brașov was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pierre-Alexandre Helsens didn't get a good kick on the ball. 95 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Pierre-Alexandre Helsens came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. FC Brașov succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Ecuador had controlled the match.
