SK Mons's Connor Osmond proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save SK Mons from getting a goal against them. In the 10th minute Steven Puttemans shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 13 minutes into the match, SK Mons's goalkeeper Connor Osmond had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Xavies Muñagorri. Connor Osmond showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mac Mon in the 15th minute of the match. 18 minutes into the match, SK Mons's goal looked a bit too open when Carl Van Kamp came free, but Connor Osmond reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute, Xavies Muñagorri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Mac Mon had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Connor Osmond. SK Mons's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mac Mon was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 36th minute Luka Van Aken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Connor Osmond was a little too slow when Xavies Muñagorri got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 38th minute. The score was now 2-0. In the 42nd match minute, FC Bruges was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio Eggers to maneuver through the defense. In the 42nd minute of the match Christoph Van den Berch sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Luc Van Hinnendael skillfully saved the ball. In the 45th minute, Bogumil Czapski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luc Van Hinnendael was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Trevor Eubank to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bogumil Czapski in the 52nd minute of play forced FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luc Van Hinnendael showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trevor Eubank in the 53rd minute of the match. 54 minutes into the match, FC Bruges's Xavies Muñagorri sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Connor Osmond narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Connor Osmond made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ken Brogren in the 57th minute of play. In the 59th minute, SK Mons's Bogumil Czapski dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-2. SK Mons made a substitution. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shane Corrigan in the 65th minute of play forced SK Mons's goalkeeper Connor Osmond to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 66th minute Trevor Eubank shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luc Van Hinnendael saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 67 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Bruges's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Luka Van Aken was slow to take the kick. During this time SK Mons's players had a chance to rest. The corner led SK Mons's Şeref Erez to fire away a dangerous shot which Luc Van Hinnendael despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 69th minute Xavies Muñagorri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Connor Osmond saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SK Mons's Connor Osmond played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xavies Muñagorri in the 77th minute of play. In the 80th match minute, SK Mons was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nick Daniels to maneuver through the defense. Connor Osmond made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Carl Van Kamp in the 82nd minute of play. In the 86th minute, Xavies Muñagorri made a precise shot to the right of Connor Osmond. SK Mons's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-2. FC Bruges were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after SK Mons's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Lasse Kroner took the corner. FC Bruges's Lasse Kroner was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Connor Osmond in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. If Xavies Muñagorri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Connor Osmond showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xavies Muñagorri in the 95th minute of the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. FC Bruges fully deserved thier win.
