Luc Van Hinnendael took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Belo Alvarez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute of the match A.D. Alcorcón got a corner. FC Bruges's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nereo Acosta ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to A.D. Alcorcón's Erlantz Bermejo getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 20th minute Mac Mon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maurino Serena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 20th minute, Mac Mon made a precise shot to the right of Maurino Serena. A.D. Alcorcón's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Belo Alvarez made the kick off in the second half. Maurino Serena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mac Mon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in A.D. Alcorcón's zone, Shane Corrigan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maurino Serena came out of the goal and Shane Corrigan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luc Van Hinnendael made an important save on a dangerous shot by Belo Alvarez in the 56th minute. A.D. Alcorcón's Laurin Mangas was substituted for Nereo Acosta. In the 58th minute, one of FC Bruges:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Bruges. The FC Bruges fans' excitement grew in the 66th match minute when FC Bruges's Xavies Muñagorri looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Belo Alvarez could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Luc Van Hinnendael made a huge save. FC Bruges's Shane Corrigan got a good chance for a goal in the 74th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Bruges's goalkeeper Luc Van Hinnendael, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Maurino Serena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xavies Muñagorri in the 83rd minute of play.
