Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Silvester Radalj came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silvester Radalj went, in the 20th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After 23 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gisbert. Jose Llorienzo kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Alexander Domínguez came out of the goal in the 28th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. 32 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alexander Domínguez. Atlético Hacha's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Sancho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. Alexander Domínguez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luis Andino, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvester Radalj in the 42nd minute of play. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

After 90 played minutes Atlético Hacha got a freekick which was hit by Juan Aldea. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
