Botafogo AP's Reinaldo Kellogg was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but François-Xavier Dionnet in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Ruquense FC's Miroslaw Mielak got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fritz Ernst Joinvilense might have been able to make a better finish in the 9th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over François-Xavier Dionnet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fritz Ernst Joinvilense ran back to his position shaking his head. 10 minutes into the match, Ruquense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fritz Ernst Joinvilense came free, but François-Xavier Dionnet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Basilio Fernandez in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Pedro Bertassi saved Botafogo AP from getting behind. When the match clock showed 13 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Basilio Fernandez sped through Botafogo AP's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of José Pedro Bertassi. If Remigio Quirze had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ruquense FC's François-Xavier Dionnet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to save Ruquense FC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silvano Bide in the 22nd minute of play forced Botafogo AP's goalkeeper José Pedro Bertassi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Pedro Bertassi stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Basilio Fernandez's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Pedrinho Alvarenga charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pedrinho Alvarenga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Pedrinho Alvarenga kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Basilio Fernandez made a kick off. If Basilio Fernandez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute.
