The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hélder Trigo in the 2nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jefferson do Vale saved Karaboudjan from getting behind. In the 5th minute, Ademar Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 7th match minute, Karaboudjan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tales Mota to maneuver through the defense. Karaboudjan's Jefferson do Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Carlos Medeiros in the 7th minute of play. After having played for 12 minutes, Arlindo Neiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Karaboudjan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arlindo Neiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jefferson do Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Moisés Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Arlindo Neiva during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jefferson do Vale made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Hélder Trigo sent off a good shot on target. 24 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Raí Rodrigues came free, but Olavo Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Hélder Trigo was the one to do the kick off. Moisés Amaral's late challenge caught a Karaboudjan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Moisés Amaral helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Moisés Amaral hit a great ball. In the 71st minute, Conrado França made a precise shot to the right of Olavo Fonseca. Vascogoianiense FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Hélder Trigo hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Vascogoianiense FC's Válter Martins got a free kick in the 78th minute. Karaboudjan's Arlindo Neiva got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 84th play minutes Frank Soares shot 1-4, a short shot which went by Olavo Fonseca and just under the crossbar into goal. Karaboudjan's Frank Soares got a good chance for a goal in the 87th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Conrado França fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olavo Fonseca having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Vascogoianiense FC's Hélder Trigo got a free kick in the 93rd minute.
