After a rather tough play, Vascogoianiense FC's Júnior Camargo got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 15th minute the ball was on its way in behind Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's goalkeeper Dalmo Barreto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Hélder Trigo took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Dalmo Barreto to make any attempt to save it. Duarte Furlan got a throw-in 22 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Richard Alcântara. 27 minutes into the match, Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's goalkeeper Dalmo Barreto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Júnior Camargo. In the 29th minute, Júnior Camargo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dalmo Barreto was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. After 32 minutes, Ronaldão Carvalho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vascogoianiense FC and the Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ players grew even worse after the yellow card. Ronaldão Carvalho kicked well hit freekick during the 32nd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Melo in the 33rd minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ booed when Vascogoianiense FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulisses Cordeiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Júnior Camargo struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Dalmo Barreto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vascogoianiense FC. Júnior Camargo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dalmo Barreto having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Roger Melo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zé Augusto Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clemente Teles, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Zé Augusto Peixoto was a little too slow when Roger Melo got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 51st minute. The score was now 3-1. Thanks to some nice moves Dênis Quadros could shoot a difficult shot in the 61st minute, which Zé Augusto Peixoto however easily saved by the left post. The audience was convinced that Hélder Trigo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Dalmo Barreto was relentless in the 62nd minute of the game. But to his dismay, Hélder Trigo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Through an outstanding action, after 80 minutes, Zé Augusto Peixoto successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Ronaldão Carvalho got his second yellow card in the match during the 84th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After having played for 87 minutes, Dênis Quadros managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dênis Quadros was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Waldir Faria kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Vascogoianiense FC's zone, Dênis Quadros stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Augusto Peixoto came out of the goal and Dênis Quadros tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Treze Futebol Clube CIMZ's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
