In the 40th minute, Wayne Rooney ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dan Wennerqvist was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Óscar Cordoba didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adrián Espadas went, in the 46th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. The score stood at 2-2 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Adrián Espadas to make the kick off. In the 52ndth minute of the game Adrián Espadas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Soroca F.C. fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Soroca F.C.'s Adrián Espadas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Adrián Espadas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Soroca F.C.'s Romulo Thomas was substituted for Gustavo Tartalo. Soroca F.C. made a substitution. Răzvan Necula replaced Adrián Espadas. If Matias Bilintx had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Soroca F.C.'s manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Soroca F.C. made a substitution. Rodolfo Atarrabi replaced Hernan Lano. After a rather tough play, Soroca F.C.'s Răzvan Necula got a free kick in the 69th minute. Răzvan Necula might have been able to make a better finish in the 73rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Óscar Cordoba. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Răzvan Necula ran back to his position shaking his head. 73 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Răzvan Necula. Răzvan Neculas short, quick shot in the 81stth minute got Óscar Cordoba to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Răzvan Necula could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Óscar Cordoba made a huge save. Óscar Cordoba made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Răzvan Necula sent off a good shot on target. Sporting de Gijón's Carolo Ovando was substituted for Alejandro Rufo. 92 minutes into the game, Matias Bilintx cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-4. Dan Wennerqvist was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Óscar Cordoba made an important save on a dangerous shot by Răzvan Necula in the 94th minute.
