A sloppy throw-in by Hélder Nóbrega in the 24th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Borussia Dortmund MZB's Durvalino Quintal. 28 minutes into the match, Borussia Dortmund MZB's goal looked a bit too open when Edgar Salles came free, but Angelo Peruzzi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 30th minute, Glauco Baiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Gernando Pernambucano came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Borussia Dortmund MZB fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gernando Pernambucano couldn't finish the play. Glauco Baiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Angelo Peruzzi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Borussia Dortmund MZB's Durvalino Quintal quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Júlio Saraiva, made in the 89th minute of the game. Edvaldo Brasil came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by Borussia Dortmund MZB's Gernando Pernambucano. But to his dismay, Gernando Pernambucano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Angelo Peruzzi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edgar Salles in the 94th minute of play. Angelo Peruzzi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilmar de Queiroz, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. Many of SAS's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. SAS may have spent more time on the ball, but Borussia Dortmund MZB were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
