Selmo Illescas came out of the goal and Norman Mabalane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 6 minutes into the match, demir idmanyurdu's goal looked a bit too open when Rafael Zaldua came free, but Selmo Illescas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 9th minute of the match G A I S got a corner. demir idmanyurdu's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cléber Marinho ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Cléber Marinho almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but demir idmanyurdu's Selmo Illescas did a great save. In the 11th match minute, G A I S was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baba Baba to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 12th minute, Bogdan Pânzaru managed to get in a good position for a shot. demir idmanyurdu's supporters rose to their feet, but Bogdan Pânzaru was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Staffan Eckegren breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Staffan Eckegren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hami Eyüp in the 13th minute of play. G A I S's Staffan Eckegren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nistor Conta in the 14th minute of play. Selmo Illescas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Felice Juliano in the 16th minute of play. Staffan Eckegren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nistor Conta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Rafael Zaldua had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Felice Juliano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Selmo Illescas having to interfere. Staffan Eckegren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Prospero Perutxo, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. In the 43rd match minute, G A I S was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cléber Marinho to maneuver through the defense. After 45 played minutes G A I S got a freekick which was hit by Cléber Marinho. Staffan Eckegren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulvi Nizami in the 47th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Prospero Perutxo to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Prospero Perutxo in the 59th minute of play forced G A I S's goalkeeper Staffan Eckegren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rafael Zaldua fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Selmo Illescas having to interfere. G A I S's Pontus Ström was substituted for Sixten Ekström. G A I S made a substitution. Arne Stensson replaced Felice Juliano. The supporters of demir idmanyurdu booed when G A I S was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arne Stensson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 82nd minute of the match, Arne Stensson got a very nice opportunity to score, but Selmo Illescas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 91 played minutes demir idmanyurdu got a freekick which was hit by Hami Eyüp. 94 minutes into the match, demir idmanyurdu's Hami Eyüp sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Staffan Eckegren narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
