In the 14th minute, Nana FC's Guto Guedes seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Guto Guedes the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Nana FC protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Guto Guedes had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 14 minutes into the game, one of Nana FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 1-0 came in the 17th minute when João Paulo Chaves all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Ricardinho Hoffmann. Ricardinho Hoffmann stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Paulo Chaves's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Ricardinho Hoffmann made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when João Paulo Chaves sent off a good shot on target. Dinei Goiano scored 2-0 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ricardinho Hoffmann, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Noel Carioca's late challenge caught a Nana FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The tension between the Nana FC and the Wambalamba FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell João Paulo Chaves to make the kick off.
