The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Inter de Melão's goal looked a bit too open when Geert Wijgaert came free, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 5 minutes into the game, Shivaraja Budaj was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. MAGNIFICOS.FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter de Melão the free kick. Shivaraja Budaj kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. After 8 minutes of play, MAGNIFICOS.FC's Geert Wijgaert made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Claudio-Paul Taffarel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Claudio-Paul Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paul Albeanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Geert Wijgaert blasted a shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Claudio-Paul Taffarel having to make a save. Claudio-Paul Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Geert Wijgaert in the 30th minute of the match. Geert Wijgaert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Claudio-Paul Taffarel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Geert Wijgaert's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Geert Wijgaert in the 36th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Geert Wijgaert in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Claudio-Paul Taffarel saved Inter de Melão from getting behind. In the 40th minute, Geert Wijgaert left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The MAGNIFICOS.FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geert Wijgaert to make the kick off. If Geert Wijgaert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Geert Wijgaert sent off a good shot on target. Geert Wijgaert in the 52ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Claudio-Paul Taffarel, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. A collision led to Inter de Melão getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Klaus Meine hit a great ball. In the 54th minute of the match Gilberto Lalla sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel skillfully saved the ball. MAGNIFICOS.FC's Gilberto Lalla was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Geert Wijgaert who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Claudio-Paul Taffarel when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Geert Wijgaert might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Claudio-Paul Taffarel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geert Wijgaert ran back to his position shaking his head. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Geert Wijgaert sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of MAGNIFICOS.FC booed when Inter de Melão was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Falcão Dias didn't get a good kick on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Inter de Melão's goalkeeper Claudio-Paul Taffarel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geert Wijgaert. After having played for 65 minutes, Ernesto Farias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inter de Melão's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ernesto Farias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. MAGNIFICOS.FC's Leonardo Paz was substituted for Omer Guyomarch. In the 72nd minute, one of Inter de Melão:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Inter de Melão. Inter de Melão:s Claudio-Paul Taffarel showed great skill when he stopped Geert Wijgaert:s penalty. 81 minutes into the game, Geert Wijgaert recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Claudio-Paul Taffarel. Geert Wijgaert showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. In the 84th minute of the match, Geert Wijgaert got a very nice opportunity to score, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Geert Wijgaert sent off a good shot on target. After some careless play in the Inter de Melão defense, Geert Wijgaert kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Claudio-Paul Taffarel. The Inter de Melão fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudio-Paul Taffarel should have stopped the shot. Claudio-Paul Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Geert Wijgaert, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. MAGNIFICOS.FC were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after Inter de Melão's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gilberto Lalla took the corner. Claudio-Paul Taffarel was out of position in the 96 minute of play, and Geert Wijgaert capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Geert Wijgaert really showed his touch with that goal: 0-7.
