The crowd rose to their feet as Tranquilate's Nereo Guipuzkoa slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Claudio-Paul Taffarel. That made the score 1-0 after 7 minutes of play. After a defensive mix-up in Tranquilate's zone, Delfim Paraense stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jeronimo Lizar came out of the goal and Delfim Paraense tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 17th match minute, Tranquilate was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Santos Montxo to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nereo Guipuzkoa got free with Claudio-Paul Taffarel in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Inter de Melão's Claudio-Paul Taffarel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 20th minute of the match, managed to save Inter de Melão from getting a goal against them. 20 minutes into the match, Inter de Melão's goalkeeper Claudio-Paul Taffarel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Celestino Medardo. Tranquilate's Celestino Medardo got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Tranquilate's Jeronimo Lizar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Falcão Dias in the 38th minute of play. Inter de Melão's Claudio-Paul Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonatan Colon in the 39th minute of play. Inter de Melão's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when Nereo Guipuzkoa scored to the left of an out of position Claudio-Paul Taffarel, making the score, 4-1. Claudio-Paul Taffarel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nereo Guipuzkoa in the 44th minute. Niceto Domeka hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Inter de Melão's Delfim Paraense in action when he in the 48th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-1 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Delfim Paraense made a kick off. Claudio-Paul Taffarel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nereo Guipuzkoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Claudio-Paul Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonatan Colon, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. In the 61st minute Celestino Medardo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tranquilate's Jeronimo Lizar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ernesto Farias in the 63rd minute of play. Tranquilate's Santiago Chago was substituted for Niceto Domeka. After 71 played minutes Inter de Melão got a freekick which was hit by Delfim Paraense. Claudio-Paul Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celestino Medardo, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. In the 74th minute Jonatan Colon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudio-Paul Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Inter de Melão getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Klaus Meine hit a great ball. In the 78th minute, Jonatan Colon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Claudio-Paul Taffarel was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-1. After some careless play in the Inter de Melão defense, Nereo Guipuzkoa kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Claudio-Paul Taffarel. The Inter de Melão fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Claudio-Paul Taffarel should have stopped the shot. Tranquilate's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
