A collision led to FC Bruges getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Jasper Opdebeeck hit a great ball. Tony Van Der Weghen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Olof Jernberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Van Der Weghen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tommy Asserlindh, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. After a rather tough play, FC Bruges's Julius Balthazar got a free kick in the 15th minute. In the 21st minute, Tommy Asserlindh left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sundens BK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 27th minute, Sven-Olof Jernberg made a precise shot to the right of Tony Van Der Weghen. FC Bruges's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. A collision led to Sundens BK getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Olle Ahlfors hit a great ball. Tony Van Der Weghen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tommy Asserlindh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tony Van Der Weghen didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alvar Söderman went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Alvar Söderman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Sundens BK were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 52nd minute Sven-Olof Jernberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Van Der Weghen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Asserlindh could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Tony Van Der Weghen made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tommy Asserlindh got free with Tony Van Der Weghen in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of FC Bruges booed when Sundens BK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olov Alebäck didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 72 played minutes Sundens BK got a freekick which was hit by Olle Ahlfors. After a defensive mix-up in Sundens BK's zone, Richy Wiggers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilhelm Säv came out of the goal and Richy Wiggers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 77th minute, Conny Mårtensson left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Sundens BK fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. In the 82nd minute, Conny Mårtensson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sven-Olof Jernberg hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. After 87 minutes, Richy Wiggers mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Bruges and the Sundens BK players grew even worse after the yellow card. Tony Henderickx charged in rather forcefully in the 89th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tony Henderickx the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 89 played minutes FC Bruges got a freekick which was hit by Tony Henderickx. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Olov Alebäck during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 96 minutes into the match, Sundens BK's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Henderickx came free, but Wilhelm Säv reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the match was over Sundens BK could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than FC Bruges throughout the match.
