In the 14th minute, Buffalo Timişoara's Gelu Ţeica dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. The supporters of FC Bruges booed when Buffalo Timişoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matei Pupăzan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tony Henderickx to make the kick off. In the 55th minute, Buffalo Timişoara's Valeriu Ozon seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Valeriu Ozon the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Buffalo Timişoara protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Valeriu Ozon had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 54th minute, one of Buffalo Timişoara:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Buffalo Timişoara. When the match had been going on for 57 minutes, FC Bruges's Jasper Opdebeeck got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ilie Mavrogheni. When Mugur Hudiță came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Buffalo Timişoara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mugur Hudiță couldn't finish the play. In the 91st minute, Mugur Covataru made a precise shot to the right of Tony Van Der Weghen. FC Bruges's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-2. 94 minutes into the game, Mugur Covataru cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 9-2. Tony Van Der Weghen was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 97th minute, Mugur Covataru left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Buffalo Timişoara fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 10-2.
