Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lúcio Mattos in the 3rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 13th minute of play forced Sosoco FC's goalkeeper Diamantino Arruda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Honduras's Lautaro Navarro got control of the ball when Enio Azevedo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Edmundo Espiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luca Espinar struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Diamantino Arruda didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. Oscar Castro might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Lautaro Navarro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Oscar Castro ran back to his position shaking his head. Sosoco FC's Edmílson Veloso got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 30th minute, Milagros Cabal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Sosoco FC booed when Honduras was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Navarro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundo Espiga in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Diamantino Arruda saved Sosoco FC from getting behind. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Sosoco FC's goalkeeper Diamantino Arruda, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Edmílson Veloso put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Lautaro Navarro. Edmundo Espiga could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Diamantino Arruda made a huge save. Edmundo Espiga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Diamantino Arruda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. 74 minutes into the match, Honduras's goal looked a bit too open when Enio Azevedo came free, but Lautaro Navarro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Diamantino Arruda made an important save on a dangerous shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 77th minute. Lúcio Mattos's late challenge caught a Honduras's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
