In the 4th minute Niceto Lando shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrique Lekubegi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 7 minutes into the match, Iker Boruc dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Enrique Lekubegi, 1-0. Benito Laurin hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. Matias Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santos Ioritz in the 13th minute of play. Iker Borucs short, quick shot in the 16thth minute got Enrique Lekubegi to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Enrique Lekubegi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Niceto Lando, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Matias Čech played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicanor Gaufred in the 20th minute of play. In the 23rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Palermo's goalkeeper Enrique Lekubegi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Iker Boruc recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 30th minute Nicanor Gaufred shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Matias Čech saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Nicanor Gaufred had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 38th minute, Iker Boruc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 41st minute, Ulises Hernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 43 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Iker Boruc came free, but Enrique Lekubegi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enrique Lekubegi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Iker Boruc, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. When ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Iker Boruc, in the 43rd minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™. In the 46th minute, Iker Boruc got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Iker Boruc to make the kick off. 50 minutes into the game, Donato Vachon was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palermo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™ the free kick. A collision led to Palermo getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Donato Vachon hit a great ball. In the 52nd minute, Ulises Hernandez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Enrique Lekubegi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Washington Ortiz in the 54th minute of play. After 55 played minutes ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™ got a freekick which was hit by Federico Mattin. 68 minutes into the game, one of ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Matias Čech, was totally fooled by Palermo's Valentin Enekoitz, who 71 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. After having played for 74 minutes, Raúl Breckenfeld managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Raúl Breckenfeld was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 75 minutes into the game, Baldomiro Eutor was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Iker Boruc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Enrique Lekubegi having to make a save. 82 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Iker Boruc came free, but Enrique Lekubegi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Enrique Lekubegi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iker Boruc in the 86th minute of play. 90 minutes into the game, ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s Iker Boruc nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Enrique Lekubegi made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. Iker Boruc blasted a shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Enrique Lekubegi having to make a save. 96 minutes into the match, Washington Ortiz notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Palermo's Enrique Lekubegi. Enrique Lekubegi was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. There was no doubt that ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™ were the better team. ֆքօʀȶɨռɢ ʊǟɨ ʍʐƈ™'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
