Matias Čech tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 27 minutes in the game Willie Vogt did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Ervin DeJesus. In the 45th match minute, Racing Miami Futbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genaro Parr to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The wind increased when Ervin DeJesus made the kick off in the second half. In the 60th minute Marcell Pécsi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Di Giambattista saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Franco Di Giambattista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Paulo Linhares in the 93rd minute of play. Glen Hoff charged in rather forcefully in the 96th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Glen Hoff the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
