After having played for 4 minutes, Belmiro Sanches managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. EDI MZB's supporters crossed their fingers, but Belmiro Sanches was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tarcisio Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Júlio Eger in the 9th minute of play. Tiago Machado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Valdo Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, SORRISO E. C.'s Mateus Salgado got a free kick in the 13th minute. David Andrade hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. In the 21st minute, Júlio Eger fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Tarcisio Gerber, passed just outside the right post. Alberto Mendonça could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Tarcisio Gerber made a huge save. Evandro Maia kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Tiago Machado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Valdo Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valdo Catarinense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiago Machado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alberto Mendonça to make the kick off. After 53 played minutes EDI MZB got a freekick which was hit by David Andrade. In the 54th minute of the match Vítor Sousa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tarcisio Gerber showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 56 minutes into the match, Tiago Machado notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of SORRISO E. C.'s Valdo Catarinense. Valdo Catarinense was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Tiago Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdo Catarinense having to interfere. If Evandro Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tarcisio Gerber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alberto Mendonça, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. EDI MZB's Belmiro Sanches got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Carlos Arantes kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 76th minute, Alberto Mendonça left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SORRISO E. C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. In the 86th minute Cláudio Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tarcisio Gerber saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tiago Machado charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tiago Machado the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 88th minute, Horácio Pereira made a precise shot to the right of Tarcisio Gerber. EDI MZB's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-1. Tarcisio Gerber came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by SORRISO E. C.'s Alberto Mendonça. But to his dismay, Alberto Mendonça quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1.
