The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Valdo Catarinense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Horácio Pereira came up free with the goalie in the 15th minute, the SORRISO E. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Horácio Pereira couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, SORRISO E. C.'s Valdo Catarinense got control of the ball when Geraldo Gonçalves tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Horácio Pereira in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Francisco Alagoano saved Palmares Futebol Clube from getting behind. In the 41st minute, Horácio Pereira made a precise shot to the right of Francisco Alagoano. Palmares Futebol Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1.
