Danilo Pires made in the 7th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Evandro Maia however managed to control. Squadra Demarchi's Oscar Saldanha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Squadra Demarchi from getting a goal against them. Squadra Demarchi's Oscar Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evandro Maia in the 14th minute of play. 16 minutes into the match, EDI MZB's goal looked a bit too open when Kléber Queirós came free, but Tarcisio Gerber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Squadra Demarchi's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Paulinho Paraibano in the 17th minute. Claudinho Loyola was in a good position and managed to take a shot, but he missed just to the outside of the post. Tarcisio Gerber took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paulinho Paraibano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ciro Castro's late challenge caught a EDI MZB's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ciro Castro helped the player get up and apologised. After 21 played minutes Squadra Demarchi got a freekick which was hit by Ciro Castro. 23 minutes into the match, Paulinho Paraibano notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of EDI MZB's Tarcisio Gerber. Tarcisio Gerber was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 26 minutes into the game, Júnior Meirelles threw the ball into play from the sideline. EDI MZB's Didi Mesquita quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 29th match minute, Squadra Demarchi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Paulinho Paraibano to maneuver through the defense. The long shot by Didi Mesquita in the 30th minute really tested Oscar Saldanha's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Evandro Maia recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 38 minutes of play, Squadra Demarchi's Claudinho Pinho made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tarcisio Gerber was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tiago Machado made a kick off. After 60 played minutes EDI MZB got a freekick which was hit by David Andrade. When Tiago Machado fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored EDI MZB's protests and gave Tiago Machado a yellow card for diving instead. Tarcisio Gerber was a little too slow when Kléber Queirós got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 63rd minute. The score was now 0-3. EDI MZB's Tiago Machado got his second yellow card of the match in the 69th minute. The referee ordered Tiago Machado off the ground. Tiago Machado hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. In the 73rd match minute, EDI MZB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Didi Mesquita to maneuver through the defense. Tarcisio Gerber was a little too slow when Paulinho Paraibano got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 78th minute. The score was now 0-4. Tarcisio Gerber made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Pinho in the 81st minute of play. 82 minutes into the game, Paulinho Paraibano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tarcisio Gerber. Paulinho Paraibano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-5. Paulinho Paraibano could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Tarcisio Gerber made a huge save. Squadra Demarchi's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
