Claudinho Pinho started the match with the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jarbas Porto during the 7th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Squadra Demarchi booed when Palmares Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jarbas Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Oscar Saldanha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Vítor Sena in the 11th minute of play. Luisinho Nogueira took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oscar Saldanha. Oscar Saldanha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Ismael Secco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonardo Paz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Claudinho Pinho in the 27th minute of the match. When Mané Xavier fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Squadra Demarchi's protests and gave Mané Xavier a yellow card for diving instead. Oscar Saldanha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisinho Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. The supporters of Squadra Demarchi booed when Palmares Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jarbas Porto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nilson Corrêa kicked well hit freekick during the 35th minute of the match. In the 46th minute Túlio Maravilha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oscar Saldanha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luisinho Nogueira might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Oscar Saldanha. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luisinho Nogueira ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

In the 52nd minute, Palmares Futebol Clube's Ismael Secco dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-4. 57 minutes into the game, Kléber Queirós was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Squadra Demarchi's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmares Futebol Clube the free kick. In the 57th match minute, Squadra Demarchi was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kléber Queirós to maneuver through the defense. Leonardo Paz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kléber Queirós, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Kléber Queirós was shown his second yellow card after 64 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. A collision led to Squadra Demarchi getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Kléber Queirós hit a great ball. Nelson Vidal hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Palmares Futebol Clube made a substitution. João Carlos Antunes replaced Jarbas Porto. Oscar Saldanha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of João Vítor Sena's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. Alfredo Botelho made in the 72nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Squadra Demarchi's Nilson Corrêa. Squadra Demarchi's attentive Nilson Corrêa managed to snatch the ball when Dário Moreira made a throw-in in the 76th minute of the game. When Palmares Futebol Clube's Túlio Maravilha in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Squadra Demarchi's goalie prevented a goal. In the 87th minute, Squadra Demarchi's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Túlio Maravilha fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Oscar Saldanha was a little too slow when João Vítor Sena got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 90th minute. The score was now 0-5. After some fancy dribbling in the 93rd minute, João Vítor Sena managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palmares Futebol Clube's supporters rose to their feet, but João Vítor Sena was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oscar Saldanha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A sloppy throw-in by Dário Moreira in the 96th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Squadra Demarchi's Nilson Corrêa. After 96 played minutes Palmares Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Thomás Maia. When the match was over Palmares Futebol Clube could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Squadra Demarchi throughout the match.
