Frank Rosa started the match with the kick off. In the 7th match minute, Agua Santa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiago Cosme to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 7 minutes play. Serafim Simão hit a great ball. With a little luck, Agua Santa's Tomé Mota got control of the ball when Serafim Simão tried to sneak it across the goal line. Rafael Cruz kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Agua Santa's defense didn't have a chance, in the 14th minute, when Ronaldo Pirani scored to the left of an out of position Tomé Mota, making the score, 1-0. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enrique Abreu in the 20th minute of play. After 31 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Peder Neira. In the 32nd minute, David Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugênio Monteiro in the 33rd minute of play forced Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Antônio Carlos Cavalcante to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 35th minute, Frank Rosa made a precise shot to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Palestra do Interior's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Agua Santa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ernesto Velloso didn't get a good kick on the ball. 42 minutes into the game, Eugênio Monteiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Agua Santa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palestra do Interior the free kick. Tomé Mota showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelsinho Marinho in the 52nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dinei Brito in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tomé Mota prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Delfim Quintal replaced David Vale. In the 69th minute, Peder Neira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Eugênio Monteiro came up free with the goalie in the 70th minute, the Agua Santa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eugênio Monteiro couldn't finish the play. Pau Lin-Carlos took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tomé Mota. Tomé Mota dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. After having played for 90 minutes, Serafim Simão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palestra do Interior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Serafim Simão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Eugênio Monteiro hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match.
