Vladimir Braga's late challenge caught a Palestra do Interior's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After recieving a nice pass, Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho tried to score from far away in the 52nd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Dalmo Rocha was substituted for Telmo Barbosa. Mauro de Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doni Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. Palestra do Interior's Ezequiel de Souza was substituted for Doni Pimenta. Palestra do Interior's Dinei Brito was substituted for Ronaldo Pirani.
