Leopoldo Capixaba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Augusto Peixoto having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopoldo Capixaba in the 26th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Waldir Faria fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vascogoianiense FC's protests and gave Waldir Faria a yellow card for diving instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Augusto Peixoto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafa Coutinho in the 53rd minute of play. Zé Augusto Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nildo Cruz in the 54th minute of play. Nildo Cruz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 56th minute, Válter Martins hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Leopoldo Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Válter Martins hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Walmir Dias showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hélder Trigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Ulisses Cordeiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Walmir Dias made a huge save. With a little luck, Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ®'s Walmir Dias got control of the ball when Hélder Trigo tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. Júnior Camargo hit a great ball. 84 minutes into the match, Vascogoianiense FC's goal looked a bit too open when Rafa Coutinho came free, but Zé Augusto Peixoto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Walmir Dias acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 89th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Válter Martins. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rafa Coutinho in the 94th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zé Augusto Peixoto saved Vascogoianiense FC from getting behind. When Ȼōŗỉȵᵺỉƛȵʂ Wƛŗŗỉōŗʂ®'s Rafa Coutinho in the 96th minute got a chance for a shot 96th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Vascogoianiense FC's goalie prevented a goal. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match.
