Valdo Catarinense made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Kléber Queirós sent off a good shot on target. After 31 played minutes Squadra Demarchi got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Batista. After 32 played minutes, SORRISO E. C.'s Vítor Sousa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Oscar Saldanha came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in SORRISO E. C. reached it. After 39 played minutes SORRISO E. C. got a freekick which was hit by Reinaldo Marquez. If Claudinho Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Squadra Demarchi's Oscar Saldanha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Mendonça in the 60th minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Alberto Mendonça had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Oscar Saldanha. Squadra Demarchi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alberto Mendonça was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 69th minute, Cláudio Couto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Squadra Demarchi's attentive Nilson Corrêa managed to snatch the ball when Agostinho Pombal made a throw-in in the 71st minute of the game. In the 76th minute, Kléber Queirós left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Squadra Demarchi fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Valdo Catarinense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Claudinho Pinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Valdo Catarinense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Pinho in the 86th minute of play. A collision led to Squadra Demarchi getting a freekick after 88 minutes play.
