Vascogoianiense FC's Waldir Faria quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Zé Augusto Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinho Pinho in the 8th minute of play. Oscar Saldanha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hélder Trigo's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. After 11 played minutes Squadra Demarchi got a freekick which was hit by Richard Moura. Oscar Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ulisses Cordeiro in the 16th minute of the match. Márcio Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Oscar Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Squadra Demarchi getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Sérgio Batista hit a great ball. Waldir Faria made in the 30th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Olavo Fonseca immediately put the ball in play. Ademar Montenegro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 35th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Oscar Saldanha. Squadra Demarchi's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Claudinho Pinho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Augusto Peixoto having to interfere. 47 minutes in the game Waldir Faria did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Olavo Fonseca.

A collision led to Squadra Demarchi getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Paulinho Paraibano hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kléber Queirós in the 58th minute of play forced Vascogoianiense FC's goalkeeper Zé Augusto Peixoto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute, Ulisses Cordeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 69 minutes into the match, Squadra Demarchi's goal looked a bit too open when Hélder Trigo came free, but Oscar Saldanha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The throw-in from Waldir Faria in the 72nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Squadra Demarchi's Ciro Castro. 72 minutes into the game, Júnior Meirelles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The referee showed Nilson Corrêa the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Vascogoianiense FC booed when Squadra Demarchi was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nilson Corrêa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Hélder Trigo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Oscar Saldanha. That made the score 0-1 in the 75 minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hélder Trigo in the 83rd minute of play forced Squadra Demarchi's goalkeeper Oscar Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Claudinho Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Zé Augusto Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kléber Queirós in the 93rd minute of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Vascogoianiense FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
