With his leg Oscar Saldanha managed to avoid a goal in the 20thth minute, when Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Vale in the 26th minute of play forced Squadra Demarchi's goalkeeper Oscar Saldanha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doni Pimenta to maneuver through the defense. Ronaldo Pirani received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Oscar Saldanha came out and tried to block the shot, but Ronaldo Pirani slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 30th minute. Palestra do Interior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelsinho Marinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Serafim Simão scored 2-0 in the 45th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Oscar Saldanha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.

Ronaldo Pirani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Oscar Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nelsinho Marinho took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Oscar Saldanha. Oscar Saldanha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0.
