The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 7 played minutes Agua Santa got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Cruz. After 10 played minutes Vascogoianiense FC got a freekick which was hit by Márcio Medeiros. In the 17thth minute of the game Frank Rosa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Vascogoianiense FC's Zé Augusto Peixoto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Frank Rosa took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Zé Augusto Peixoto. Zé Augusto Peixoto dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 28 minutes into the match, Frank Rosa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zé Augusto Peixoto. Vascogoianiense FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Frank Rosa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Zé Augusto Peixoto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enrique Abreu, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 44th minute Dedê Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zé Augusto Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frank Rosa made a kick off. Hélder Trigo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 55th minute, Enrique Abreu made a precise shot to the right of Zé Augusto Peixoto. Vascogoianiense FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. After some careless play in the Agua Santa defense, Anderson Valladares kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tomé Mota. The Agua Santa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tomé Mota should have stopped the shot. Agua Santa's William Luz was substituted for Fábio Lopez. Agua Santa were furious when Rafael Cruz was red carded, 68 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Enrique Abreu in the 75thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Zé Augusto Peixoto, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Moisés Amaral during the 76th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Vascogoianiense FC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Moisés Amaral hit a great ball. Aílton de Mendonça struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Zé Augusto Peixoto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Agua Santa. After having played for 82 minutes, Tiago Cosme managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Agua Santa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tiago Cosme was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ernesto Velloso might have been able to make a better finish in the 91st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Augusto Peixoto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ernesto Velloso ran back to his position shaking his head. Enrique Abreu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Zé Augusto Peixoto made a huge save. When Tiago Cosme came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Agua Santa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Tiago Cosme couldn't finish the play. Tomé Mota showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hélder Trigo in the 96th minute of the match. Válter Martins hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match.
