Gerardo Hitz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Garibaldo Quijana having to interfere. Sebastian Enekoitz might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Garibaldo Quijana. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sebastian Enekoitz ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 15th minute Waldemar Matorin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garibaldo Quijana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Garibaldo Quijana showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Waldemar Matorin in the 18th minute of the match. In the 20th minute Gerardo Hitz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Garibaldo Quijana saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Domeka Paredes struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fillos de Breogán. Garibaldo Quijana took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davor Šuker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 28th minute, Davor Šuker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Black Rose 1979 fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Orti Sánchez in the 31st minute of play forced Black Rose 1979's goalkeeper Karl-Johan Ahlqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fillos de Breogán's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Oto Gómez in the 32nd minute. After taking down the ball on Fillos de Breogán's corner Gabriel Bogatu fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Karl-Johan Ahlqvist quite easily take care of the ball. When Calisto Abril came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Fillos de Breogán fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Calisto Abril couldn't finish the play. In the 44th minute, Fillos de Breogán's Calisto Abril dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Orti Sánchez made the kick off in the second half. Sebastián Cassin's late challenge caught a Fillos de Breogán's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Sebastián Cassin helped the player get up and apologised. Sebastián Cassin hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Karl-Johan Ahlqvist didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Calisto Abril went, in the 56th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. When the match had gone on for 60 minutes, Gerardo Hitz took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Garibaldo Quijana to make any attempt to save it. Fillos de Breogán made a substitution. Xesus Galaiko replaced Calisto Abril.
