Carl Downes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 10th minute, Andy Corre got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Desiderio Theobald received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Tim Johnstone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Carl Downes made a precise shot to the right of Sérgio Madruga. Club Atletico Talleres's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Tim Johnstone showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erasmo Quilino in the 17th minute of the match. After 28 minutes The Tigers's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Andy Corre who took care of the corner kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carl Downes in the 33rd minute of play forced Club Atletico Talleres's goalkeeper Sérgio Madruga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Tigers's Tim Johnstone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erasmo Quilino in the 35th minute of play. Carl Downes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 44thth minute tested the skills of Sérgio Madruga when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Rio Blewitt charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rio Blewitt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 45 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for The Tigers! The referee gave Club Atletico Talleres a penalty, 47 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Erasmo Quilino, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of The Tigers's Tim Johnstone. 2-1. Club Atletico Talleres's Benicio Abastas was substituted for Donato Mikolas. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carl Downes made a kick off. Club Atletico Talleres were furious when Dimitrie Sluis was red carded, 56 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 58th minute of the match Rio Blewitt shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sérgio Madruga showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Carl Downes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Sérgio Madruga tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Tigers made a substitution. Phil Clarke replaced Frankie Brookes. Club Atletico Talleres's Angelo Umea was substituted for Rolando Saturnin. Carl Downes might have been able to make a better finish in the 65th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sérgio Madruga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carl Downes ran back to his position shaking his head. Tim Johnstone had great luck who in the 68thth minute grab hold of the ball when Desiderio Theobald from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. Club Atletico Talleres's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Andy Corre in the 69th minute. After taking down the ball on Club Atletico Talleres's corner Andy Corre fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Tim Johnstone quite easily take care of the ball. In the 70th match minute, The Tigers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carl Downes to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Club Atletico Talleres defense, Owen Noble kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Sérgio Madruga. The Club Atletico Talleres fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sérgio Madruga should have stopped the shot. After 83 minutes of play The Tigers's Rio Blewitt was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Rio Blewitt kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carl Downes in the 90th minute of play forced Club Atletico Talleres's goalkeeper Sérgio Madruga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Tigers were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after Club Atletico Talleres's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Kelvin Atherton took the corner. Tim Johnstone took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andy Corre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Club Atletico Talleres booed when The Tigers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phil Clarke didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Carl Downes managed to get in a good position for a shot. The Tigers's supporters rose to their feet, but Carl Downes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sérgio Madruga breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. The Tigers had won after a very even match.
