Atletico de Madrid's Nikolas Karkamanis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Johnny Broman in the 19th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Åhus Absolut F.C's Jim Lindholm played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iakovos Papafotopoulos in the 52nd minute of play. Ilias Koulopodis's late challenge caught a Åhus Absolut F.C's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ilias Koulopodis helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Atletico de Madrid getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Ilias Koulopodis hit a great ball. In the 80th minute, Atletico de Madrid's Kostas Papadatos seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Kostas Papadatos the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Atletico de Madrid protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Kostas Papadatos had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch.
