Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) Galoer Barajo hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Emil Cvitanović showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Quetara, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Xove Tijerina made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nikola Vlašić in the 10th minute of play. When the match clock showed 11 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Diego Quetara sped through Croatia's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Emil Cvitanović. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rosario Cepa in the 15th minute of play forced Croatia's goalkeeper Emil Cvitanović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 19 minutes into the match, Diego Quetara dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Emil Cvitanović, 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Servando Ariztimuño in the 23rd minute of play forced Croatia's goalkeeper Emil Cvitanović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Nikola Vlašić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nikola Vlašić might have been able to make a better finish in the 28th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Xove Tijerina. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. In the 32nd minute Diego Quetara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emil Cvitanović saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Emil Cvitanović took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Servando Ariztimuño, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
Croatia made a substitution. Joško Poklepović replaced Nikola Vlašić. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Diego Quetara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Diego Quetara made a precise shot to the right of Emil Cvitanović. Croatia's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-0. 59 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Uruguay's Diego Quetara fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. Croatia's Joško Poklepović got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 82 minutes into the game, Servando Ariztimuño cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 6-0. Emil Cvitanović was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Emil Cvitanović came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Uruguay's Servando Ariztimuño. But to his dismay, Servando Ariztimuño quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. Croatia's Emil Cvitanović played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dario Betzanos in the 93rd minute of play. A nice corner shot did that Servando Ariztimuño got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Emil Cvitanović quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Croatia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nikola Haramina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 96 played minutes, Uruguay's Servando Ariztimuño shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Emil Cvitanović came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Uruguay reached it. Uruguay's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
