The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The crowd rose to their feet as IKS Norrköping's Hampus Vallin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Olivier Kahn. That made the score 1-1 after 41 minutes of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gabriele Batistuta in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henrik Tingberg saved IKS Norrköping from getting behind. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edwin Aukes was the one to do the kick off. Edwin Aukes hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Lemel SV defense, Hampus Vallin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olivier Kahn. The Lemel SV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olivier Kahn should have stopped the shot. Lemel SV's Olivier Kahn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Karl Ivarsson in the 88th minute of play. Karl Ivarsson took the ball and in the 90 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olivier Kahn. Olivier Kahn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rolf Nyman in the 93rd minute of play forced Lemel SV's goalkeeper Olivier Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. IKS Norrköping had played much better football throughout.
