The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alekos Lineos helped the player get up and apologised. Alekos Lineos hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 5th minute of the match Leon Reiling sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Babbis Theocharis skillfully saved the ball. In the 12th minute Edwin Aukes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Babbis Theocharis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the game, Lemel SV's Ton Janus nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Babbis Theocharis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 18th minute, Pieter den Hartog hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 25 minutes into the match, Lemel SV's goal looked a bit too open when Alekos Kassanos came free, but Olivier Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Amfithea Hotspur getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Marinos Roussos hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alexandros Vasdekis during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 28th match minute, Amfithea Hotspur was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandros Vasdekis to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Amfithea Hotspur defense, Pieter den Hartog kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Babbis Theocharis. The Amfithea Hotspur fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Babbis Theocharis should have stopped the shot. Olivier Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Markos Miroforidis in the 37th minute of play. Babbis Theocharis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edwin Aukes in the 40th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Edwin Aukes made a kick off. Ton Janus's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Babbis Theocharis firmly grabbed it by the left post. Edwin Aukes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Babbis Theocharis having to interfere. Olivier Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alekos Kassanos, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. In the 57thth minute of the game Alekos Kassanos who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lemel SV's Olivier Kahn was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Olivier Kahn came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Amfithea Hotspur's Chrisostomos Charoulis. But to his dismay, Chrisostomos Charoulis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Hans Degeling hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Lemel SV's Leon Reiling got a free kick in the 82nd minute. The supporters of Lemel SV booed when Amfithea Hotspur was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chrisostomos Charoulis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Olivier Kahn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alekos Kassanos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Amfithea Hotspur supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Lemel SV's performance. The match ended with a win for Lemel SV.
