Hugo Sikström made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink sent off a good shot on target. Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 26thth minute tested the skills of Hugo Sikström when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The crowd rose to their feet as WZG Sandomierz's Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Hugo Sikström. That made the score 1-1 after 35 minutes of play. The Sundborn IF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Börje Åkesson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Sundborn IF's Hugo Sikström played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute Börje Åkesson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfred Dziatkowski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
