The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. A throw-in in the 3rd minute of the game was made by Ertan İdrisoğlu with Fatih Maradona as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 7th minute, Berkay Şahiner hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Göksel Canfeda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chico Vidales, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. It was a well-played corner which Hieronim Wlodyga managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Chico Vidales scored 0-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Göksel Canfeda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Sixto Fraco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fatih Maradona in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute Chico Vidales shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Göksel Canfeda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Göksel Canfeda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chico Vidales, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After taking down the ball on Nàstic de Tarragona's corner Chico Vidales fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Göksel Canfeda quite easily take care of the ball. 25 minutes into the match, istanbulls's Patric Bierhoff sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sixto Fraco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sixto Fraco made an important save on a dangerous shot by Patric Bierhoff in the 31st minute. Göksel Canfeda came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Nàstic de Tarragona's Chico Vidales. But to his dismay, Chico Vidales quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 36 minutes into the match, Nàstic de Tarragona's goal looked a bit too open when Patric Bierhoff came free, but Sixto Fraco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chico Vidales scored 0-3 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Göksel Canfeda, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 45th minute, Zeng Chong Kang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Patric Bierhoff stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. istanbulls's Göksel Canfeda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save istanbulls from getting a goal against them. After 54 minutes of play, istanbulls's Patric Bierhoff made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Sixto Fraco was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 57th match minute, istanbulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ertan İdrisoğlu to maneuver through the defense. Augustin Negreanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 64th minute Zeng Chong Kang shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sixto Fraco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patric Bierhoff in the 65th minute of play forced Nàstic de Tarragona's goalkeeper Sixto Fraco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Patric Bierhoff's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Sixto Fraco was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. In the 69th minute of the game, Chico Vidales landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. Nàstic de Tarragona's Iñaki Portillo was substituted for Chico Vidales. After 69 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for istanbulls! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Olívio Negri during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of istanbulls booed when Nàstic de Tarragona was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olívio Negri didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Iñaki Portillo in the 77th minute of play forced istanbulls's goalkeeper Göksel Canfeda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nàstic de Tarragona's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Silvano Roca in the 79th minute. The corner ended in Augustin Negreanu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but istanbulls's Göksel Canfeda did a great save. Göksel Canfeda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Iñaki Portillo in the 84th minute of the match. In the 84th minute, Iñaki Portillo made a precise shot to the right of Göksel Canfeda. istanbulls's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Iñaki Portillo blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Göksel Canfeda having to make a save. istanbulls's Göksel Canfeda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Iñaki Portillo in the 88th minute of play. Göksel Canfeda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Iñaki Portillo in the 90th minute of play. 96 minutes into the game, istanbulls's Patric Bierhoff nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Sixto Fraco made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-5. The Nàstic de Tarragona supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Nàstic de Tarragona would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
