To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Laureano Lisboa hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Deivid De Souza in the 41st minute of play forced C.A.Independiente's goalkeeper Buford Lim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tom Misaki got free with Cláudio Taffarel in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Heigo Luiga made a kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tom Misaki in the 51st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cláudio Taffarel saved AKÇEŞMESPOR from getting behind. After having played for 55 minutes, Tom Misaki managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C.A.Independiente's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tom Misaki was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lisandro Mederi was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 58 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 58th minute of the game. One of C.A.Independiente:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of AKÇEŞMESPOR:s goal. C.A.Independiente:s Buford Lim showed great skill when he stopped Deivid De Souza:s penalty. C.A.Independiente's Buford Lim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tahir Pınarbaşı in the 64th minute of play. Cláudio Taffarel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Øyvind Rovik in the 65th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Heigo Luiga in the 66th minute of play forced AKÇEŞMESPOR's goalkeeper Cláudio Taffarel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jaroslaw Psikuta took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cláudio Taffarel. Cláudio Taffarel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. When AKÇEŞMESPOR's Mehmet Hakkı Suhan in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Cláudio Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardino Gonsalve, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. AKÇEŞMESPOR's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
