Los Tatangelos's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 16 minutes into the match, Purple Talents's Qiu Feng Guo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tamer Siraceddin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Purple Talents's Philippe-Arnaud Bourguignon got a free kick in the 20th minute. 23 minutes into the game, Los Tatangelos's Bilal Pekant nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iker Carabajal made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Cuma Han succeeded in the game's 28th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. The crowd rose to their feet as Qiu Feng Guo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tamer Siraceddin. That made the score 1-2 in the 37 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Qiu Feng Guo in the 47th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tamer Siraceddin saved Los Tatangelos from getting behind. After the first half Los Tatangelos were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bilal Pekant was the one to do the kick off. Iker Carabajal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ümit Durukan, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. After 83 minutes, Donato Azevedo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Purple Talents and the Los Tatangelos players grew even worse after the yellow card.
