GLADIADORES's supporters rose to their feet, but Ciro Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldir Gaúcho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. José Paulo Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. If Leonel Coelho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GLADIADORES's Joel Ramos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amaury Hulsen in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute, GLADIADORES's Walery Koprowski seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Walery Koprowski the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of GLADIADORES protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Walery Koprowski had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In the 46th minute, one of GLADIADORES:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for GLADIADORES. GLADIADORES:s Joel Ramos showed great skill when he stopped Oscar Ortiz:s penalty. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ciro Carvalho stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 55 minutes, Ciro Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GLADIADORES's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ciro Carvalho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee showed Ciro Carvalho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
