Ignatius Casasola came out of the goal in the 14th minute to try and stop a shot by Villarreal FK's Hugo Sanchez. But to his dismay, Hugo Sanchez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. When 龙然明 fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Garanhão do SUL's protests and gave 龙然明 a yellow card for diving instead. After 17 played minutes Garanhão do SUL got a freekick which was hit by 龙然明. After 21 played minutes Villarreal FK got a freekick which was hit by Hugo Sanchez. Oswaldo Paraíba made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Torcato Rebocho sent off a good shot on target. 1-1 became the score in the 26th minute when Virgílio Teves elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Virgílio Teves in the 29th minute of play forced Villarreal FK's goalkeeper Oswaldo Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edgar Costa's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Oswaldo Paraíba firmly grabbed it by the left post. 37 minutes into the match, Villarreal FK's goal looked a bit too open when Akis Kefallinos came free, but Oswaldo Paraíba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Villarreal FK's Oswaldo Paraíba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgar Costa in the 38th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Villarreal FK fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 38th minute. Penalty! Villarreal FK:s Oswaldo Paraíba showed great skill when he stopped Akis Kefallinos:s penalty. When Villarreal FK's Fabio Di Giambattista in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Garanhão do SUL's goalie prevented a goal. Oswaldo Paraíba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Torcato Rebocho in the 47th minute of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fabio Di Giambattista stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ignatius Casasola stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabio Di Giambattista's shot from short distance in the 51st minute. Ignatius Casasola made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabio Di Giambattista in the 57th minute. Matúš Tomeček might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ignatius Casasola. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Matúš Tomeček ran back to his position shaking his head. 60 minutes into the match, Villarreal FK's Matúš Tomeček sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ignatius Casasola narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Villarreal FK's Gejza Duda got a free kick in the 61st minute. Garanhão do SUL made a substitution. Obafemi Fabiani replaced Torcato Rebocho. Garanhão do SUL's André Roriz was substituted for Virgílio Teves. A collision led to Villarreal FK getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Gejza Duda hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabio Di Giambattista in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ignatius Casasola saved Garanhão do SUL from getting behind. After 72 minutes Garanhão do SUL's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Branislav Abrahamfy who took care of the corner kick. In the 74th minute, Branislav Abrahamfy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th minute Obafemi Fabiani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oswaldo Paraíba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ignatius Casasola made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fabio Di Giambattista in the 80th minute. Ignatius Casasola made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Fabio Di Giambattista sent off a good shot on target. Lukáš Tobák struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Ignatius Casasola didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Villarreal FK. Albano Leizarraga's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Oswaldo Paraíba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 88th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Villarreal FK's Gejza Duda got a free kick in the 89th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albano Leizarraga in the 93rd minute of play forced Villarreal FK's goalkeeper Oswaldo Paraíba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Villarreal FK players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Garanhão do SUL from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
