After some fancy dribbling in the 13th minute, Almir do Valle managed to get in a good position for a shot. São Wilson's supporters rose to their feet, but Almir do Valle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mustafa Hamit Kutlu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Almir do Valle got free with Mustafa Hamit Kutlu in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Mustafa Hamit Kutlu was a little too slow when Osvaldinho Ósvaldsson got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 16th minute. The score was now 1-0. São Wilson's Shi Feng Yun played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fodil Otman in the 21st minute of play. In the 21st match minute, Trabzon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hidayet İlsev to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hidayet İlsev during the 26th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, São Wilson's Zé Carlos Antunes got a free kick in the 30th minute. Mustafa Hamit Kutlu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Almir do Valle, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. When Zé Carlos Antunes fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 79th minute Almir do Valle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mustafa Hamit Kutlu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
