After taking down the ball on Trabzon's corner Keijo Kungla fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Ruben Montez quite easily take care of the ball. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Chip Potterton managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Rafael Pitin in the 36 minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claes Fender in the 39th minute of play forced Trabzon's goalkeeper Mustafa Hamit Kutlu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Trabzon's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Gallarde came free, but Mustafa Hamit Kutlu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcelo Gallarde in the 41st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Mustafa Hamit Kutlu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 43 minutes into the game, Fodil Otman recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ruben Montez. Fodil Otman showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fodil Otman to strike the kick off in the second half. Fodil Otman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ruben Montez having to interfere. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Ruben Montez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fodil Otman in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to Hala Madrid Iraki FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. André Kuipers hit a great ball. In the 57th minute of the match, Claes Fender tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Mustafa Hamit Kutlu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 65 minutes into the game, Gencer Uluöz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Trabzon's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hala Madrid Iraki FC the free kick. In the 65th match minute, Trabzon was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gencer Uluöz to maneuver through the defense. Hala Madrid Iraki FC's Johannes Sjögren was substituted for Claes Fender. The supporters of Hala Madrid Iraki FC booed when Trabzon was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gencer Uluöz didn't get a good kick on the ball.
