Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hille IF. The supporters of Hille IF booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Carballo didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tobias Vallman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 8th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 12 minutes into the match, Eliseo Noboa had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Mats Ekrot. Hille IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eliseo Noboa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Hille IF's zone, Eliseo Noboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mats Ekrot came out of the goal and Eliseo Noboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ragnar Sundström in the 17th minute of play. Ragnar Sundströms short, quick shot in the 18thth minute got Benito Sanz to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Ragnar Sundström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Hille IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jimmy Åström didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aaron Alcocer hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Ragnar Sundström was extremely unlucky when he, in the 32nd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After 35 minutes Costa Rica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was William Sjöö who took care of the corner kick. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Alexander Carballo hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jerry Blomqvist got free with Benito Sanz in the 37th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ragnar Sundström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Hille IF players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Costa Rica were winning 0-1.

In the 60th minute Ragnar Sundström shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tobias Vallman blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Jerry Blomqvist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ragnar Sundström in the 81st minute of the match. 85 minutes into the match, Hille IF's goalkeeper Mats Ekrot had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Puig. 88 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Jerry Blomqvist came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ragnar Sundström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Costa Rica were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Hille IF's much stronger midfield.
