A collision led to Stowe City getting a freekick after 3 minutes play. Rubin Lim hit a great ball. The supporters of Republica Ploiești booed when Stowe City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Billy Hardy didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Bryon Valencia fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Stowe City's protests and gave Bryon Valencia a yellow card for diving instead. Terrence Thome showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radu Marioteanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 15th minute, Nicu Zberea left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Republica Ploiești fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. After 18 played minutes Republica Ploiești got a freekick which was hit by Nicu Zberea. Nicu Zberea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Terrence Thome having to interfere. Lyle Dill hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. After having played for 31 minutes, Nicu Zberea managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Republica Ploiești's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nicu Zberea was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 34 minutes into the match, Cristobal Weathers had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pompiliu Hâncu. Republica Ploiești's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristobal Weathers was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1.

Stowe City made a substitution. Dante Ham replaced Bruce Cornell. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Nicu Zberea to strike the kick off in the second half. Terrence Thome took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from George Ivăncioiu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With 62 minutes on the clock, Codrin Traianescu commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 63rd minute, Codrin Traianescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 64th minute the ball was on its way in behind Republica Ploiești's goalkeeper Pompiliu Hâncu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. DeAngelo Guevara took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pompiliu Hâncu. Pompiliu Hâncu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. DeAngelo Guevara came free with the goalkeeper in the 77th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Pompiliu Hâncu could save by the left post. Leon Hadley hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. Terrence Thome made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from George Ivăncioiu in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute, Nicu Zberea made a precise shot to the right of Terrence Thome. Stowe City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After 87 played minutes Republica Ploiești got a freekick which was hit by Vasile Stoica. Stowe City were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
