The audience thought a goal was coming when Robert Šedina got free with Serafino Jurdan in the 2nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the match had gone on for 3 minutes, Robert Šedina took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Serafino Jurdan to make any attempt to save it. Serafino Jurdan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Šedina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silverio Tuste in the 7th minute of play forced Potomci Dwayna Dibleyho's goalkeeper Erasmo Diegotxe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Robert Šedina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Serafino Jurdan made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Boukjan Bunt sent off a good shot on target. Erasmo Diegotxe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silverio Tuste, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Newells Old Boys's Horacio Errapel quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ladislav Trtík, made in the 18th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Robert Šedina got free with Serafino Jurdan in the 21st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Serafino Jurdan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Robert Šedina in the 24th minute. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Potomci Dwayna Dibleyho's goalkeeper Erasmo Diegotxe, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Potomci Dwayna Dibleyho were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after Newells Old Boys's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Boukjan Bunt took the corner. Newells Old Boys's defense didn't have a chance, in the 36th minute, when Robert Šedina scored to the left of an out of position Serafino Jurdan, making the score, 2-0. Newells Old Boys's Silverio Tuste got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

In the 57th minute of the match Potomci Dwayna Dibleyho got a corner. Newells Old Boys's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Boukjan Bunt ran over to the corner to take the kick. Serafino Jurdan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Robert Šedina, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. He walked away shaking his head. 90 minutes into the match, Boukjan Bunt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Serafino Jurdan. Newells Old Boys's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Boukjan Bunt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. When the referee ended the match the Potomci Dwayna Dibleyho players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
