When the match had been going on for 10 minutes, MARINUS MZC's Valdo Guimarães got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Winford Taylor. Tobias Herrington fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Perivaldo Moreira having to interfere. Evaristo Arósio hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. The supporters of New England Minas booed when MARINUS MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Délio Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th minute, Tobias Herrington hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Perivaldo Moreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kaba Sø in the 29th minute of play. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Kaba Sø stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Kaba Sø managed to get in a good position for a shot. New England Minas's supporters rose to their feet, but Kaba Sø was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Perivaldo Moreira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of New England Minas booed when MARINUS MZC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Délio Souza didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Valdo Guimarães's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Winford Taylor was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game.
