The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nelsinho Marinho was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldo Pirani in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thibault Mamardashvili saved JFSP from getting behind. In the 54th minute of the match Palestra do Interior got a corner. JFSP's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nelsinho Marinho ran over to the corner to take the kick. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiaguinho Melo in the 68th minute of play. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vambola Probach in the 74th minute of play. In the 76thth minute of the game Ronaldo Pirani who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but JFSP's Thibault Mamardashvili was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 80th minute, Vambola Probach got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Palestra do Interior made a substitution. Dinei Brito replaced Ronaldo Pirani. JFSP made a substitution. Sílvio Luís Ceresso replaced Vambola Probach. When Aníbal Pirani came up free with the goalie in the 83rd minute, the JFSP fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aníbal Pirani couldn't finish the play. After 94 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Luisão de Medeiros. JFSP succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Palestra do Interior had controlled the match.
