In the 3rd match minute, New England Minas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tobias Herrington to maneuver through the defense. 4 minutes into the game, Danilo Gonçalves was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. JFSP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave New England Minas the free kick. In the 4th match minute, JFSP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Gonçalves to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to JFSP getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Ismael Neiva hit a great ball. 11 minutes into the game, Tod Mosley cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Thibault Mamardashvili was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of JFSP booed when New England Minas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Caldwell didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to New England Minas getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Tobias Herrington hit a great ball. In the 19th minute, JFSP's Ismael Neiva dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. New England Minas's Winford Taylor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danilo Gonçalves in the 24th minute of play. After 26 played minutes New England Minas got a freekick which was hit by Tod Mosley. 28 minutes into the match, New England Minas's goalkeeper Winford Taylor had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Vambola Probach. New England Minas's Winford Taylor proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save New England Minas from getting a goal against them. Thibault Mamardashvili showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tobias Herrington, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. Winford Taylor took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vambola Probach, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 38 minutes, Pere Ba mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the New England Minas and the JFSP players grew even worse after the yellow card. Pere Ba hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Vambola Probach struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Winford Taylor didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for JFSP. Laerte Fernandes hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. When Pere Ba came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the New England Minas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pere Ba couldn't finish the play. JFSP's Danilo de Queiroz pulled a muscle in his leg after 47 minutes and couldn't finish the game. JFSP made a substitution. Ismael Velloso replaced Danilo de Queiroz. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Vambola Probach made a kick off. Pere Ba hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. In the 53rd minute of the match Gláuber Fonseca shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Winford Taylor showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 56th match minute, JFSP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vambola Probach to maneuver through the defense. Tod Mosley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Thibault Mamardashvili tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ismael Neiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Winford Taylor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Tod Mosley took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Thibault Mamardashvili to make any attempt to save it. In the 86th minute, Hermínio Meirelles hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ismael Neiva took the ball and in the 89 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Winford Taylor. Winford Taylor dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. If Vambola Probach had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
